The size you ask for decides which price applies: at or above 2.61 megapixels it is the dearer one. Every size we accept sits clear of that boundary rather than on it, so the price of a size is never ambiguous.

How is Seedream 5.0 Pro billed?
Per image. Seedream 5.0 Pro costs $0.036 an image, and $0.072 at 2.61 megapixels and above. There is no per-token price and no context window: the token counts the model vendor reports are metering, not the basis of the charge. Credit is reserved at the price of the image you asked for before the request is sent, so the charge is known in advance.
Which sizes can I ask for?
1024 × 1024, 1024 × 1536, 1536 × 1024, 1920 × 1920, 2048 × 2048. That is the complete list — the size parameter is checked against it and anything else is refused with a 400 that names the accepted set, rather than being silently rounded to something you did not ask for.
Can I generate several images in one request?
No. Each request produces one image, and a parameter asking for several — n above 1, or any form of batched or sequential generation — is refused rather than accepted and billed as several. Make the requests in parallel instead, up to your key's 60 images a minute.
Can it edit an image I already have?
Yes. Send the image alongside the prompt, as base64 or a data URL, and it edits that rather than starting from nothing. The first image of each request is free and the rest cost $0.0024, and usage.input_images on the reply says how many were counted.
How much cheaper is this than the vendor’s own price?
20% below their published price per image, at every size. The list price is in the table on this page beside ours, so the comparison is a subtraction rather than a claim.
Where does the image come back?
Base64, in data[0].b64_json. There is no URL: we rebuild the reply rather than passing through a storage link, so there is nothing to expire, nothing that leaks where the request was served, and nothing to fetch in a second round trip. Decode it and write the bytes.
Do I need a subscription?
No. Billing is per image from prepaid credit, with no subscription, no seats and no minimum. Credit does not expire.
